CTO / Technical Co-Founder

Salary + Technical Co-Founding Shares, Remote
About Gaia Gives:

Gaia Gives is redesigning global philanthropy from the ground up using Web3 tools that make impact giving more transparent and engaging than ever before.

We’re a team of global change-makers with deep startup experience tackling the core challenges of global philanthropy: institutional distrust, high fundraising costs, and a lack of donor engagement. In fact, 65% of donors would give more if they knew the true impact of their donation.

Donors can choose from a curated selection of vetted impact projects coached for impact by our staff. Each project is broken into milestones with transparent budgets and impact metrics that must be verified by donors before the next round of funding is unlocked. Donations can be added/modified in seconds using our Web3 impact wallet which accepts both fiat (credit/debit/ACH) and 50+ cryptocurrencies.

Our in-development token economy aims to further incentivize positive action, rewarding aid and development professionals to verify impact claims and providing gamified rewards for donors who share their favorite projects.

Role Description

Based in Costa Rica, Gaia Gives is a global team of inspired ReFi changemakers with the goal of helping channel resources and attention towards projects making a positive impact, for a more inclusive, regenerative, and thriving planet. Despite building the core of the platform on-chain, we aim to leverage the best of Web3 in a Web2 accessible package to maximize our donor base and scale global impact.

We are looking for a talented and mission-driven Chief Technical Officer to complete our core team as a technical founder. This new team member will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the platform, from our fiat on-ramping web3 payment pathway to cyber security. With more than a year and a half under our team’s belt, we have a solid foundation including partnerships across banking and Web3, rextensive platform wireframes, and a deep understanding of the on and off-chain challenges at hand. The CTO’s work will focus on refining this architecture and putting it into action.

As our core internal solutions architect, the CTO will work closely with the CEO and Head of Product to ensure the successful conceptualization and launch of the platform and its ongoing development. In addition, they will be responsible for building and maintaining a strong out-of-house development team, managing all relationships with this contractor. That said, this role is not above coding directly, and will occasionally require the deep hands-on application of coding skills, complemented by those of the dev. team.

As a core technical co-founder, we’re looking for an inspired collaborator who is willing to play the long game with us, shaping the vision of the company and making this platform their own. After an initial trial run, compensation would include founding shares on a vesting track, converting to token after decentralization.

Our team works remote, but meets periodically for in-person sprints, most often in Costa Rica and across Europe.

If you are a mission-driven creative problem-solver with a strong technical background, this might be your chance to help make impact that scales. (And have a lot of fun in the process.)
